Banner Design 9/12/11

in this photo above is my banner design. i think that the font goes really well with with our genre of dance and R and B as it looks like a sign that has been outside of a nightclub and looks quite appealing to the eye. I think that this looks more like an album cover with the photo and i don't really like it because it clashes. the picture and name don't look good together and when i get it so that the background is gone it ruins the picture therefore i am going to keep going through ideas and designing banners and logos.

Editing Footage - 7/12/11

Today in Media we started to upload our first part of footage which we filmed on the 30th in the studio which is our performance element that we are going to incorporate into our music video. We noticed today that in certain clips that there was a colour change and we were trying to figure out what effects can help us get the same colour. We tried using effects like colour balance, colour correction and HSV adjustment. however we have not figured out what effect is the best to get the colour the same. we also synced the clips together with the actual track.

the image above is the original scene and as you can see in the image on the left the image is darker which means that we have to change the effects in order to make sure that the clips are all the same colour and have the same effect.

In the image below there is the edited version as you can see the image on the left is much brighter and has more colour to it however they still arent the same colour so we still have to play around with more effects in order for us to get the right effect.

when uploading the footage we realised that some of the footage the singers faces were covered by the microphones which we do not want to use as we are not able to see the faces of our singers.

banner design - 25/11/11

Above is the screenshot of my banner design. i believe that this fits with the conventions of the pop and dance genre eith girlbands. the picture is not of our girlband but it gives an idea of what i want and when looking at the other bands site the main image is under the bands name and i beleive that this fits in well with the conventions. the picture that i am going to put in once we have a picture of the band is going to be less sexualised and more clothing.

this video is a test run as we would like to use this affect in when creating our music video. this clip is the test run for the scene where the girl looks into the mirror and sees herself however she is looking completely different as in real life she is wearing makeup and in th mirror she will be dressed as a goth. we tested this clip first to see if it was possible to get the shot right and how to go about filming it. we first set up the tripod so that it will be in the same position throughout the scene. i then stood looking into the mirror and then armani also looked into the miror. we then imported the two clips in to the final cut and cropped the clips so that only half the image was being shown. therefore you can see that the person looking in the mirror is someone else which proves that this shot is possible and quite simple to edit.

Logo Designing on Gimp - 18/11/11

In lesson today we were asked to start designing our logos for our website. We first had a discussion of which would be a good idea and we all came up with different ideas. In gimp i first got my main image which is the earth with the hands around it. Then i got my name logo which is pure orbit. i chose the font because it looks like a clubbing sign and it is quite appealing and looks good. However i beleive that it looks to business like and may look like part of business company so i have to lok into it somemore and will probably have to change it as when i did more research most girl bands logos on there website are just there names therefore if i stick with the conventions of just the name as my logo it can be more effective and people will then know straight away when they go on the site it is a girl band.

Storyboard planning - 16/11/11

Today in lesson our group were storyboarding and trying to come up with ideas to go with the lyrics. We also started to test out some shots to see if it was possible for example one shot is of the main character looking at herself in one outfit and then in the mirror they are wearing different clothes and we fount out it is possible.

WebsiteDesigns - 11/11/11

 Above is my Website designs. These are not the colours i want my website to be however these are just colours to separate each part of my website. At the top is my Title Banner which is the Band name i Picked this font because i wanted the band to have a cool font and it looks like a nightclub sign which could connote the genre of the band. in the top right hand corner there are hyperlinks of social network sites which link these site to the bands twitter, Facebook and myspace page in order to see more of the bands information and what there up to. Underneath the title banner i want to have a picture of the band so that the audience can see who is in the band.  The menu bar is there so that fans can navigate around the the site easily and look at what the band are up to through photos, videos and news. There are also interactive features so that the fans can have a brief insight and if they want to find out more they will have to then click on the menu bar tabs so that they can find out more about the band. I am going to change the interactive feature twitter as they can find out there twitter by clicking the hyperlinks for social networks and change it to there new album release which will show my digipack. I also need the font of the menu bar tabs and the hyperlinks and interactive feature titles all the same as then it will be consistent throughout.

Above is the Production Company name. I came to this final idea with David whilst looking through images on google. We first thought of the saying "Dog eat Dog world" and then we thought we could change it in a humorous way and whilst looking at images of dogs we found the image of the dog with its mouth wide open looking quite angry and then we thought things that rhymed with dog and had loads of names and then we thought of frog and at first we didn't think it would work however it stuck in the back of your head and its quite good to remember. so we started looking for pictures of frogs and fount this one of the frog leaping and when you look at the final image it made you remember the name and its quite weird and fun.

Final Music Video Idea - 9/11/11

Our group has come up with many ideas. First off we had to figure out what the basis of our music video would be and we took about 15 minutes breaking it down into what is possible and what is not and what would be easiest and most difficult in order to make a good video. our initial storyline was is the studio shoot and the main character fitting in with society. we thought these were both good ideas as we needed an element of performance and we also had lots of ideas and concepts that fit in with the character fitting in with society. Our initial idea is that;

• girl is popular in school
• at home she is very different
• wakes up and gets ready for school
• see the fake self of her in a mirror and smashes it
• goes back to school showing her real self

I think that this is a good idea as it fits in with our concept of fitting in with society and how people are within different society groups. 

Peer Assessment of Mood Board - 4/11/11 (by DPR)

• affective because it is clear that i am using images of people trying to be someone else who they are not to try to fit in with society
• yes it engages with the audience as there are some powerful pictures such as the lion in the mirror and the god hands that connote power and finding yourself.
• it also fits in with the theme of using identities and trying to find someones true identity and personality
• it can promote my recording artist because it fits in with the video ideas as i have images of people holding there self back and being upset, people seeing themselves as something different and people being happy with who they are and there life therefore it fits in with the theme and ideas of the music video.

Someone is different and in one colour or a different costume as they are from a different background and are not being accepeted in scoiety which is one of the messages that are in the song.

someone wearing a mask again because they do not fit in with society and are looking for a way to escape.

Someone is trying to seek attention as they are always in the background of the scene.

In Lesson today i made a mood board with things that i believe to be associated with our chosen song and ideas that come to mind. Our song is Here i Am by Girlicious. i thought that the song was quite natural which is why i have some natural colours and textures. i also thought that the song was about finding yourself and the band are still trying to find there true selves which is why i have the picture of the cat looking into the mirror and seeing a lion which connotes that they haven't found themselves as the picture shows that the cat wants to be this huge lion when it can't be. this also associates with being confused as they don't know who they truly are they are following paths that might not lead them where they want to go however to find yourself you have to discover new things and make mistakes on the way. The song i believe is also about being accepted by people as one of the lyrics is ''tell me is there more to me than what you see in magazines'' which could connote that people are not accepting them for who they are only what they are and they just want to be accepted and treated like normal people however not many pop stars are treated normally. When we start to think about filming our music video we can use filters to show the natural colours.

In todays lesson we had to look at some of the typical conventions that our chosen music genre has in order to make our own music video. Our chosen genre is dance pop, urban pop.

the saturdays video was also set on a beach and had a lot of sand, water.
the girls are also dressed down and wearing very little which is a way to sexualise them in order for them to sell records.

Editing
there are many quick shots flicking between the girls so they get an even amount of screen time however in the pussycat dolls nicole gets more screen time as she is the main singer.
lots of slow motion shots.

Music Video Research - 21/09/11

Today in Media we had to research music videos that were made for similar artists to our chosen artist which is Girlicious. we had to research bands such as the Pussycat Dolls and The Saturdays. We soon realised that there were many similarities between the music videos such as:
Narrative
Element of performance
Walking towards the camera
Slow motion shots

we soon realised what our target audience is by finding out what age the audience were who viewed the music videos we researched which were female girls aged 13 - 17 and 18 - 24 and the countries that they were most popular in which were America, Brazil, Britain and countries around Europe.
